Are you a disabled veteran or first responder with a dog? Have you ever wished your pup could assist you and enhance your quality of life? If so, I’m excited to offer you free service dog training.
My name is Kyle Benz, the owner and lead trainer at KB’s K9s. As a 100% disabled veteran, I understand the challenges we face. Years ago, while struggling with my own disabilities, I adopted my first dog, Remmy. Though I worried I couldn’t care for him, it became one of my best decisions. Remmy, and later my second dog, Lupe, gave me a renewed sense of purpose. This inspired me to become a dog trainer over two years ago and launch KB’s K9s just a few months ago—to help veterans and their furry companions thrive.
Benefits of a Service Dog
Service dogs provide invaluable support to disabled veterans, addressing both physical and emotional needs:
Physical Assistance: They help with mobility (e.g., retrieving items, opening doors), alert to medical issues (like seizures or stress), and assist with daily tasks (e.g., fetching medication).
Emotional Support: For those with PTSD, service dogs offer comfort during anxiety or nightmares, reduce isolation, and lower stress levels through companionship.
Independence & Connection: They foster autonomy, ease social interactions, and provide structure through daily care routines.
Research, including studies from the National Institutes of Health, shows veterans with service dogs experience less depression, better emotional regulation, and an improved quality of life. Whether it’s fetching a phone in an emergency or guiding someone through a PTSD episode, these dogs are both practical helpers and emotional anchors.
